Staff Attend Complete Streets Workshop
Halff staff attended a Complete Streets Design Workshop sponsored by Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), held February 7–9 at the NCTCOG office in Arlington, TX. Attendees were given the option to choose their one-day intensive workshop to review and apply policies and procedures to implement Complete Street strategies. Representatives from FWHA, TxDOT, NCTCOG, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Arlington, Mansfield, Grapevine, Allen, Lewisville, Haltom City, Plano, Garland, The Colony, and others were present during the workshop sessions.
Halff attendees included Ben McGahey and David Smith from our Ft. Worth office and Lenny Hughes from Richardson. Shown in the picture is Ben McGahey presenting his workshop team’s Complete Streets design solution for the SH 199 corridor in Ft. Worth case study. The design solution included bus transit stops, wide pedestrian sidewalks, bike lanes, 11’ wide streets, and landscape medians to promote traffic calming and pedestrian and bicycle mobility along the +/- 6 mile corridor.
