FAMU Way

SIZE:

1.3 miles

Client:

City of Tallahassee

This premier Tallahassee project was unanimously approved by the City of Tallahassee Commission to enhance transportation and serve as a major community investment in the southern side of the City, particularly in the vicinity of Florida A&M University. Halff completed transportation planning, macro and micro traffic modeling, alternative design renderings and roadway construction plans for the corridor, which runs between the campuses of FAMU and FSU.

This project earned national recognition from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Engineering Excellence Awards in 2022.

Traffic analyses identified the anticipated operation and intersection needs along the proposed corridor, and the transportation planning included recommendations such as turn lanes, vehicle storage requirements, intersection configurations, right of way impacts and other operational and safety enhancements. Following the completion of the traffic studies and planning, Halff participated on the design team with City of Tallahassee staff to provide roadway design, signalization design, permitting and stormwater design for the three phases of construction.
