Halff’s Pennington Receives Pair of Prestigious Recognitions

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Halff Team Leader Melissa Pennington, PE, has earned a pair of prestigious awards this year. Pennington was named the Young Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Tallahassee Chapter earlier this year and was recently selected as the 2024 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Florida Young Professional of the Year.

Pennington is highly experienced in project permitting, project design team coordination, and the preparation of preliminary plans and construction documents. Having been with Halff for eight years, she has prepared drainage analyses and reports, environmental permitting, site development design, utility coordination, project coordination and construction documents.

She has a passion for empowering those she interacts with, is partnered with a task-oriented mindset, and serves as a trusted advisor for clients and her team. Pennington is involved in various activities, including participating in STEM outreach, serving on the steering committee for the Halff Young Professionals (HYP) employee resource group and being actively involved locally with the Halff Community Initiative (HCI).

Pennington, a native of Apopka, Florida, earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Florida State University. Pennington is one of five finalists for the 2024 ACEC National Young Professional of the Year Award. The winner will be announced at the honoree’s reception on Monday, Oct. 21, in New Orleans.
