JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two Halff projects were honored with awards from the Florida Planning and Zoning Association (FPZA) First Coast Chapter. The Fernandina Beach Flood Adaptation Plan was selected for the Environmental/Natural Resources Award, while the Nassau County Vision Plan was awarded for Outstanding Public Participation.
The FPZA Awards Program recognizes individuals, firms, companies or public agencies that have contributed to the beauty and utility of the North Florida community.

The Fernandina Beach Flood Adaptation Plan is one of the city’s tools in building long-term flood resilience. It builds directly on the vulnerability assessment’s analysis of the city’s exposure and sensitivity to tidal flooding, storm surge, sea level rise and rainfall. The adaptation plan moves beyond these identified risks and works to implement them as specific, actionable strategies to improve the resilience of the city’s infrastructure, community assets and natural resources.
The Nassau County Vision Plan will provide guidance for the future direction of growth and governance within Nassau County. The planning process and resulting policies will be critical for promoting and managing growth. Additionally, they will enhance key areas of importance while accommodating future trends.
