Citizens Park Trails

Client:

Bentonville City Hall

Halff was responsible for the design and oversight of the project to construct a one-mile paved concrete fitness trail, specifically engineered to be accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This trail loops around the Bentonville Community Center, providing an inclusive recreational space for the community.

The scope of the project included construction of approximately 3,300 linear feet of a 10-foot-wide concrete trail and 800 linear feet of a 10-foot-wide traffic-rated concrete trail, designed to withstand vehicular traffic while maintaining safety for all users. Approximately 140 linear feet of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk was constructed linking the trail to the facility.

Essential tasks that delivered this project to success included clearing and grubbing the designated area to prepare for construction, along with the installation of handicap ramps to comply with accessibility standards. The project also incorporated solid sodding to enhance the surrounding landscape and improve its aesthetic appeal. In addition, associated drainage improvements were executed to effectively manage water runoff, preventing erosion and maintaining the integrity of the trail and surrounding areas.
