Houston, Richardson and San Antonio Donate to Angel Tree

Three Halff offices have been busy gathering employee donations for the Salvation Angel tree program. Along with the familiar Red Kettles, the Angel Tree program is one of The Salvation Army’s highest-profile Christmas efforts. Angel Tree was created by The Salvation Army in 1979 by Majors Charles and Shirley White when they worked with a Lynchburg, Virginia shopping mall to provide clothing and toys for children at Christmas time.

Our Houston office donated to 10 kids and 10 elderly in this year’s Angel Tree program. All of the children were from the Aldine-Westfield area of Houston and their ages ranged from newborn to 11 years old. Upon drop-off, they discovered some of the kids the office shopped for are siblings! Donations included four scooters, one play kitchen, one ride-on princess car, numerous blankets and slippers, three learning tablets, several plush toys, and countless Insights of clothing.

For the ninth year, the Richardson Right of Way team has spearheaded the collection of gifts for 50 angels. That’s 10 more than last year! Those who participated helped 50 angels by purchasing 302 gifts for a total of $3,952. Last year, 246 gifts were purchased for 40 angels for a total of $3,166.

The San Antonio office donated to 20 kids, plus donations to St. PJ’s (a local Children’s home) of clothing and personal items. Donations included toys, shoes, clothing, LEGOs, pajamas, dress-up dress with matching shoes, jeans and clothing hangers.
