Halff Sponsors, Volunteers at MATHCOUNTS

Halff was a sponsor of the annual MATHCOUNTS Competition hosted by the TSPE Dallas Chapter, held Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Southern Methodist University. MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide program that promotes math excellence for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. It is a math skills coaching program based on higher thinking skills development with a series of progressive competitions at local, state, and national levels.

This year there were 10 teams made of up close to 100 students from Dallas area middle schools who competed in the exciting event. The competition was capped off by the Countdown Round, which is a head to head problem solving face-off of the top 16 Mathletes to determine the winner. The top three teams headed to state this year were Highland Park Middle School, St. Marks School of Texas, and Parish Episcopal School.

Emceeing the event for the 13th year in a row was Halff’s own Matt Craig. Co-Coordinator for the event was Taylor Perrine. Jessica Baker was the head proctor and Jack Young is the Chair of the MATHCOUNTS State Committee. It is safe to say that Halff Associates has a large presence in MATHCOUNTS across the state.
