City of Buda

Buda is strategically located in one of the fastest growing regions in the nation, influencing its recent positioning to expect more growth in the future. In 2002, the city updated and adopted a comprehensive plan to plan and manage the expected growth in and around the city for the next decade.

This project involved the update of the citywide comprehensive plan and extra territorial jurisdiction. The planning process included assessing recent and ongoing planning initiatives, analyzing present conditions, and evaluating the city’s growth and development since the previous plan’s adoption in 2002.

The revision of the 2002-2012 City of Buda Comprehensive Plan encompassed:

  • Public participation
  • Review of the existing comprehensive plan
  • Updates on current conditions and future trends
  • Assessments and suggestions for present zoning and subdivision rules
  • Visions and goals
  • Updates to the plan’s components
  • Development of a new land use strategy

The plan received a Long-Range Planning Award from the Central Texas Section of the American Planning Association in 2012, as well as a Comprehensive Planning Award from the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association.
