Lewisville Healthy Infrastructure Plan Collects Another Honor
RICHARDSON, Texas — The Lewisville Healthy Infrastructure Plan, a Halff project, received a Bronze Leaf Award from the Cross Timbers Urban Forestry Council for its urban canopy study.
The study was part of the healthy infrastructure plan called Explore More Lewisville and used advanced urban forest assessment techniques, including geospatial land cover classification with AI and I-tree Eco, to provide data-backed urban canopy recommendations and provide the City of Lewisville with information regarding the structure and function of its urban forest.
Residents provide feedback about the Lewisville Healthy Infrastructure Plan.
Explore More Lewisville has received multiple awards, including a Planning Excellence Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPs), the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence (CLIDE) Award and the Environmental Planning Award from the Texas chapter of the American Planning Association (APA).
The Cross Timbers Urban Forestry Council promotes sound, sustainable urban forestry for the North Texas region. Urban forestry is a holistic approach that considers not only the trees in developed urban settings but also the habitats in which trees have evolved. Trees play an important role in our cities and natural settings.
